After securing employment at Virgin Islands University, Stede Bonnet, a history professor specializing in the Golden Age of Piracy, arrives on Tortola to find that his position has been terminated due to budget cuts.
The only job he can find is as a tour guide for Queen Anne Tours, a company that provides historical piracy boat tours of the Caribbean. It’s not what he thought he’d be doing with a PhD, but it pays the bills while he applies for other positions at other universities.
Ed Teach feels like he’s on a hamster wheel. Every day is same as the day before at Blackbeard Adventures, his small ecotourism outfit: visit the same places, hear the same spiel from the same tour guides, and listen to the same petty complaints from entitled tourists.
So when he gets an emergency text from Jackie at QA Tours asking if he can spare a charter boat and a captain for a tour group, he jumps at the chance to shake things up a bit.
Ed and Stede are both looking for a way to reclaim happiness, and with a little help from a ragtag tour group, they might just find that what they’ve each been looking for is closer than they thought.
